Convicted "Horse Thief" Back in Jail

For the second time in two weeks, a person involved in the theft and destruction of a painted horse in 2012 is back in jail.

28-year-old James Gunter May is jailed on a charge of unauthorized use of a vehicle in Burkburnett, and violation of his parole on the 2012 plea. May received a 1-year state jail term for the theft of the Miss Silver Buckle horse from in front of Tangles Salon in March of 2012.

Since serving that sentence his record shows other arrests for DWI,  theft of a firearm, for which he went back to state jail for 12 months, forgery and  possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to the affidavit for May's latest arrest, he took a Lincoln Town Car for a test ride from a Burk car dealership using his mother's credit card number as security.

When he did not return,  the dealer called May and said May told him he was in Duncan but would return the car that afternoon, but he never showed up and quit returning his calls. The dealer then tried using the card number to get the money for the car but found it was canceled. Burk police later found the car in Burk parked where it was hard to see from the street.
