Parks and Recreation Department officials plan to apply for a TxDOT grant for a section of the Circle Trail project at the Wichita Bluff open space area off Seymour Highway.
They plan to request about $800-thousand from TxDOT.
And if they get that grant, they're asking city leaders to approve funding the final 20-percent of the project.
That amount would not exceed $200-thousand.
City councilors are expected to make a decision on this item during tomorrow's city council meeting.
Councilors will also decide whether to allow city staff to apply for a grant to rehabilitate a 126-year-old city structure.
The Ohio St. Bridge was built in Cleveland, OH.
It was dedicated on July 4, 1886, but was then closed to traffic in 1972 because of unsafe structural conditions.
City staff hopes to get 80-percent, or $96-thousand, funded by a TxDOT grant.
If they get the grant, the city would provide the other 20-percent, or $24-thousand, of funding.
