CASHION - A Wichita Falls couple is back in jail after deputies used Onstar tracking to locate an SUV reported stolen from a dealer Friday.
Two Wichita County Deputies were at Herb Easley Dealership when they say an employee told them a Chevrolet Equinox was missing.
The deputies contacted Onstar and got a location on Powell Road in the Cashion area where the deputies located the SUV and say two people — Dustin and Robin Northrip — were outside the vehicle.
Deputies questioned them, and say Dustin told them they had borrowed it from a friend, who had been given it as a loaner while his vehicle was being worked on at the dealership. When contacted by Deputies, the friend confirmed he had a loaner, but it was a pickup and he had never been given the Equinox to drive.
Both Dustin and Robin Northrip were charged with theft over $2,500.
The couple was also arrested about a year ago in Burkburnett. Officers were searching for Dustin to serve an arrest warrant and went to a home and say they asked Robin for permission to search the home and she said he wasn't in the home and refused their request, but the owner of the home arrived and gave permission and officers say they found Dustin in a closet. They said when they asked Robin why she was helping him, she told them she would rather go to jail than help cops. She was charged with hindering arrest.
Dustin Northrip has several convictions for theft and burglaries.
