Bowie Police find an elderly couple dead in their home with gunshot wounds.
It happened in the 400 block of E. Wise Street in Bowie, around noon Sunday.
Police believe the incident to be a murder suicide.
They say William McChesney, 69, and Panzy McChesney, 71, were found dead lying in bed in their apartment, behind the B&P Shoe and Repair store.
They say both had one gun shot wound in their heads and a shotgun was found near them.
Recently, police say, the woman was staying at Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare of Bowie for some health issues and that the distances between them, might have caused the incident.
“They were having a hard time being alone, apart from each other, and he retrieved her, brought her back to the residence [Sunday] morning and apparently whatever happened happened,” said Bowie Police Chief, Guy Green.
The bodies are being transported to Dallas for an autopsy.
Police say they hope to get more answers from those results.
Police in Bowie say they're in the middle of a homicide investigation after a husband and wife are found dead in their home.
Bowie Police Detective Kent Stagg says officers responded to a home in the 400 block of E. Wise St. today.
That's where they found a deceased couple: a 69-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman.
Detective Stagg says a homicide investigation is underway because the deaths were unattended.
He says he can't speak to a manner of death as this incident is still being investigated.
