A long-time employee at a Wichita Falls elementary school got a memorable retirement celebration.

Tommy Owens was overwhelmed at the cheers and clapping he received this afternoon at Cunningham Elementary.

He's been the school custodian for 45 years 9 months and officials say he has only missed two days of work.

School officials say since he's a favorite among the students, they felt it only fitting that the students join in his retirement party.

"He gives them a hard time and picks on them and they always go, Mr. Tommy can do it.  Mr. Tommy can do it.  He's very shy and you can see he doesn't like attention.  So, adults?  No.  Kids?  Yes," says Susan Buckley, a teacher at Cunningham Elementary.

Mr. Tommy received a gift from the school, posters from the kids and cake. His last day on the job will be June 6th.
