Monday morning, volunteers prepped the exterior walls of the historic Backdoor Theatre by power washing it. The facade hasn't been updated since the 1970's, and soon artists will be painting new signage and murals on the outside of the building.
Two local artists have been working on the design, which was approved by the Landmark Commission.
Backdoor Theatre, Board President Connie Barnhart says, "We just want to intrigue people who haven't come in to see a performance to do so, and of course to beautify the downtown area, and encourage people to come down to the downtown area in general."
The Backdoor Theatre is making lots of other changes as well, including a new artistic director, new lighting and improvements to the dinner theater and stage.
