Day Two of Online Healthcare Enrollment Plagued with Problems

- Signing up for healthcare on the federal government's website didn't go so well Tuesday but how has day two gone?

The phrase "what a difference a day makes" does not hold true with day two of open enrollment for Obamacare. According to the Department of Health and Human Services, 2.8 million people visited the federal government's website Tuesday to sign up for healthcare.

The heavy traffic caused delays which Texomans say continued Wednesday. For the second day Michelle Kilman's attempt to obtain health insurance on was unsuccessful.

"It's been like a 10 to 15 minute wait just to get onto the log in page.  Then after you do get onto the log in page it's been directing me to the system... the system is down at the moment.  So that's as far as I've been able to get," Kilman says.

And Kilman isn't the only one. Many other Texomans also have been unsuccessful including Stephanie Knisley, who works out of Community Healthcare Center as a certified applications counselor.

Her job is to answer healthcare questions and provide residents with information on available healthcare plans. But her computer wouldn't budge on Tuesday and she says that was the same case for most of Wednesday.

"It's aggravating," says Kilman.

That's how Kilman describes playing the waiting game. Although there are 180 days left for uninsured or underinsured Americans to get healthcare, Kilman says hitting roadblocks while trying to obtain mandatory coverage is frustrating.

"It says it doesn't go into effect until January 1st so if you're here, you get in there and get enrolled then January 1st comes around and you're like, okay I can do this.  I've got it all planned out, everything is fine.  I've got my budget ready.  But right now, you're kind of at a stand still," explains Kilman.

Since enrolling online continued to be a headache for people in Texoma and around the nation, many said they plan to trying again in a week or two when hopefully the system can handle the heavy traffic.
