Democrats, Republicans talk President Trump's first year before State of the Union address

WICHITA FALLS - In Wichita Falls, many are preparing and looking forward to hearing the president's State of the Union Address, including the Wichita County Democratic and Republican parties.

Investment, infrastructure and immigration are some of the things he plans to address.

Officials with the local Democratic and Republican parties are also offering their opinions on the president's first year in office.

"I think it's been a very successful one and there's four things that I can point to as for the reason for that success," Wichita County Republican Party Primary Chair Annette Barfield said.

The main thing Barfield says makes President Trump's first year very successful is the passing of the tax bill, something the Democratic party does not agree on.

"The vast majority of Americans will not see any tax release and if that's a marker for success then I'm kind of at a loss for words at this point," Wichita County Democratic Party Chairman John Richie said.

Richie says this past year, the Democratic party has seen nothing but empty promises from the president.
