Response to this year's Dental Stand Down for area veterans is bringing smiles to the event's coordinators.
The program provided a free cleaning and x-ray to area veterans at MSU Dental Hygiene Department.
It was scheduled to be a one day event last Wednesday but coordinators say so many people signed up it continued through yesterday.
While it was students who provided those who served this country with dental care many veterans considered this free service a godsend.
"We've got good health insurance but nobody covers dental. So, it's a blessing for us to come to the dental part of it," says Alvin Jungman, a Marine Corps veteran.
Appointments for the dental stand down are no longer being taken.
However, coordinators say 19 more veterans will be seen, which will bring the number of veterans served with free dental care during this year's stand down to 120.
