Fallen and seriously injured first responders in Texas were honored in Austin Thursday morning. Among them was Montague County Deputy James Boyd.

Governor Rick Perry presented the Star of Texas Awards.

Deputy Boyd was shot three times back in March while making a traffic stop outside of Bowie on US 287.

Boyd was honored along with 67 others across the state including the first responders of the West fertilizer plant explosion.  Over the past 10 years, the state has recognized 363 rescue workers with this award.
