Non-profit organization Disaster Helping Hands needs a little help to reach their next goal.

The organization helps families after they've been affected by a natural disaster and are in the process of expanding.

They purchased some land and have started the first phase of construction on their new building.

Founder Leon Green says the work is being done in stages so it can all be paid off.

The new building will provide more space and an office, which they do not currently have.

“This will replace the existing facility that we're storing our supplies in, when someone donates something to us, we are presently storing it out on Seymour Highway in a building that's been donated to us, parts of it for usage and we can not continue to use that building forever for free of charge,” says Green.

Green says they need about 600 thousand dollars to finish the building and so far they have raised a little over 200 thousand.
