This weekend Walmart customers got the chance to give back to a non-profit organization that is ready to help people across Texoma on a moment's notice.

Disaster Helping Hands founder Leon Green set up a table to raise funds for the charity that helps families affected by natural or man made disasters.

The organization donates furniture and goods to families after they deal with the destruction of their homes.

But as they collect more donations, their need for more space increase, so they are currently raising money to build a new storage facility.

“We've been stacking furniture pieces on top of each other to compensate for a lack of floor space and likewise it will give us our own office space because we do not have an office facility,” says Green.

The storage facility and office will cost about $600,000 one third of that money has been raised.

If you wish to donate money or furniture to Disaster Helping Hands call Leon at 940-704-9258.
