A dog is now under quarantine at the Wichita Falls Animal Services Center after police say it was shot by a police officer.

Investigators say Monday around 5:30 p.m. the unidentified officer responded to a call in the 5700 block of Kovarik Road after a neighbor complained that another neighbor was shooting weapons.

When the officers arrived at the home where the shots were reportedly being fired, authorities say the homeowner's pit bull charged the officer and bit him on the right arm. Police say the officer then shot at the dog, grazing it to make it let go.
