Kim Baxter, the shelter's executive director, says it takes about $17,000 each month to run the shelter but a severe drop in donations and a steep increase in animal intakes nearly caused the shelter to shut down earlier this month.
However, Baxter says money has poured in from area organizations, businesses- even kids donating their allowance.
Baxter expects to generate even more money at a fundraiser on August 17th at Tractor Supply in Graham.
