For the second time in just over two weeks, a car is struck by a train at the same crossing on Old Iowa Park Road. this time, the driver of a car that was hit by a Burlington-Northern Santa Fe train this morning escapes with minor injuries.
It happened at FM 369 and Old Iowa Park road around 9 this morning. DPS Trooper Toby Catlin says the driver, 89-year-old Bobby Metcalf believed to be from Iowa Park, was driving over the crossing when the crossing arm came down on top of his car. the front end of his car was hit by the engine, which was hauling semi trailers.
Metcalf was taken to United Regional where he is listed in good condition.
A railroad spokesperson says no crew members were injured, and the engine was equipped with a video camera.
