The body of a Fort Sill soldier has been found after two days of searching.

Authorities say the body of 28-year-old Private First Class Patrick Washington was recovered late Monday afternoon at the lake Elmer Thomas recreation area.

Crews have been searching since Saturday night after a one person kayak holding Washington and another soldier flipped. Witnesses say Washington appeared to panic while the other was trying to help him to shore, but officials say only one solider made it out of the water. Washington was last seen going under water and never resurfaced.

He is survived by a wife and two young children. The incident remains under investigation.
