Duncan city officials say an electric rate increase is "unavoidable" and they say the drought is partly to blame.
Duncan's City Council approved an eight percent increase for residential electric rates.
They say the city is absorbing several different increases from power sources.
Duncan's City Manager, Jim Frieda, says production costs, tougher standards on emissions, natural gas price hikes, and even the drought has forced them to raise rates.
Duncan residents monthly base price will increase by $6.46 starting Thursday.
