An amended Electra city charter has paved the way for residents to ask for a recall election for the city's place 2 commissioner, Margie Bentley Scott. Resident Edna Tally turned in a petition Monday morning to Electra's city secretary, requesting a recall election in November.

Tally says 20%, or 118 voter signatures, of nearly 600 registered voters was required but gathered 149. Scott was one of two commissioners who reportedly spearheaded the push to terminate police chief, Johnny Morris, who was fired seven months ago.

All signatures must be verified before the petition goes to city leaders for a vote.
