The Electra Police Department currently has one part time and six full time officers and a seventh full time officer will join the force Thursday.
And for dispatchers there are five full time and one part time.
The police department staff was down earlier this year after Electra city officials fired long time police chief, Johnny Morris.
So, the city contracted with Wichita County to have sheriff's deputies provide full time law enforcement until the police department was back up to full staff.
Officials say they have 12 applications for the police chief opening with only one application coming from out of state.
Since commissioners hope to have a police chief hired by the end of this month they plan to discuss terminating the city's contract with Wichita County.
That discussion will take place during tomorrow's city commission meeting, which starts tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at Electra City Hall.
