Electra Volunteer Firefighter Sentenced in Connection to Arson

- A former Electra volunteer firefighter is sentenced in connection to multiple, intentionally set fires in the area.

Twenty-three year old Christopher Allen Bussey pleaded guilty to one count of arson.

Ge's sentenced to five years probation and will also have to pay a $750 fine.

According to an arrest affidavit, in September, the Electra Volunteer Fire Department and the Wichita County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a grass fire on FM 2384 north of Highway 287.

The affidavit states Electra Fire Chief Greg Lynn told deputies he believed Bussey had started the fire and suspected he was involved in other recent unexplained fires.

Lynn says Bussey's responses to the fires made him suspicious because he would arrive at fires before other firefighters and seemed to know exactly where the fires were.

The affidavit states a tracking device had been placed on Bussey's vehicle and he was in the area prior to the FM 2384 fire.
