Hunderds of Sheppard airmen, who didn't go home for Thanksgiving still got a turkey meal Thursday.

For the fourth year, folks at the Elk's Lodge fed about 250 airmen from Sheppard Air Force Base.

The 350 pounds of turkey plus all the fixings were provided through local donations.

And though many of the airmen were away from their families for the first time on this Thanksgiving, they say it still was one to remember.

“But I am with my first Air Force family so I think that is what's awesome,” said Jose Ortiz, an airmen at Sheppard.

“I was kind of nervous but I had a fantastic time, all with some really fantastic people,” said Samuel Walters, another airmen.

After the meal the airmen played card games, bingo and football.
