A Texoma women's shelter is dealing with a bed bug infestation.
Officials at Faith Refuge on Hatton Road say three of their eight family rooms have been invaded by bed bugs.
A woman and infant were taken to the emergency room for bites, and the shelter is taking steps to eradicate the bugs.
Infested mattresses will be replaced with new ones and an exterminator will continue to spray the facility. Officials also plan to put new vinyl protectors on the mattresses. Families will no longer be allowed to bring their own bedding into their rooms.
Bed bugs can cause a number of health problems including skin rashes and other allergic reactions. Infestations have been on the rise across the country.
