Father, Son Arrested for Possession of Marijuana after Traffic Stop

- A father and son are behind bars in Montague County after a deputy finds a large amount of marijuana in their truck during a traffic stop.

Sheriff Paul Cunningham says 59-year-old Michael Martin Sr. and 37-year-old Michael Martin Jr. were arrested.

Each is charged with delivery of marijuana less than five pounds and is jailed on $50,000 in bonds.

He says after the stop and with the help of the Wise County Sheriff's Office K9, more than three-and-a-half pounds of marijuana was found in the bed of the 2003 Chevrolet pickup.

The senior Martin has convictions for delivery and possession of drugs in Houston.

Cunningham says the traffic stop was made by Deputy James Boyd who survived being shot three times back in March while making a traffic stop outside of Bowie on US 287.
