First responders spend morning rescuing Texas Forest Service employee

ELECTRA - Area first responders spent Tuesday morning helping a Texas Forest Service employee who got trapped in the mud, south of Electra near Highway 25 and F.M. 2326.

First responders from the Electra and Kamay Volunteer Fire Departments as well as Wichita County Deputies arrived to help rescue the unidentified woman who got stuck while trying to Cross Beaver creek on foot while conducting a vegetation survey.

Authorities on the scene said they were able to get her out and say she's going to be okay, she was transported to a nearby hospital to be checked out, but it took some time getting her out of the quicksand-like bank as rescuers had to navigate the terrain and 30 to 40 foot drop to the creek where she was stuck.
