First Week of Water Testing for Reuse Project Complete

- Sunday wraps up the first week of water quality testing of the emergency water reuse pipeline.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality was in town Monday through Wednesday to work with Wichita Falls Public Works Department on getting the official verification tests up and running.

Wichita Falls' Public Works Director Russell Schreiber says he thinks the TCEQ was impressed and satisfied with the facilities and the amount of work put into the project at the Water Cypress Treatment Plant.

He says it will be a few weeks before they get some of the test results back because they had to be sent to labs out of state but so far the on site testing has been going well.

“Everything that we're recording and testing on site such as tributary, chlorine residuals, different tests are coming out, actually coming out better than we anticipated,” says Schreiber.

Schreiber says a pump motor did fail this week but they were able to flip to their back up motor and were able to continue testing with out a hitch.

That motor should be fixed by Tuesday.

The verification tests will last 45 days.
