Former Allred Inmate in Wichita County Jail on Murder Charges

A former Allred Prison inmate is now in the Wichita County Jail on murder and aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury charges in connection with the death of another Allred inmate in 2012.

Bond was denied.

Records in the Wichita County District Clerk's Office show 44-year-old Micah Barefield was indicted this past August for the murder and assault of 55 year old Alfred Waddell.

Barefield was in another Texas prison facility when he was transferred to Wichita County and booked in around 9 Friday night.

Department of Criminal Justice officials say on September 29, 2012, prison staff found Waddell lying on the floor unresponsive and his cellmate Barefield was standing by the sink.

Staff attempted life-saving measures, but Waddell was later pronounced dead at United Regional Hospital.

Waddell was serving 19 years for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and Barefield was serving a 5 year sentence for burglary in Tarrant County.
