Former Manager Accused of Stealing $29K in Lotto Tickets

- The former manager of a Wichita Falls convenience store is jailed tonight after store officials say surveillance and business records show he stole and cashed in $29,000 worth of lottery tickets.

James McLendon is charged with theft or embezzlement of more than $20,000.

An arrest affidavit states McLendon is an ex-store manager of JJ's Fast Stop in the 4200 block of Kell.

It states McLendon would activate, steal, then cash in lottery packs.

Store officials claim he did so for five months starting in March of last year.

McLendon's also charged with two counts of credit card abuse.

It's alleged he was working at a Stripes convenience store in the 4000 block of Burkburnett Rd. and kept a customer's credit card after he used it to pay for items.

The affidavit states there were 10 unauthorized transactions made on that card totaling nearly $800.

It states McLendon was terminated from that job for theft unrelated to this case.

He's jailed on more than $32,000 in bonds.
