Former Walmart Employee Charged with Embezzling Over $3000 from Store

An 18 year old former Walmart employee has posted bond on charges he embezzled  several thousand dollars while working as a cashier.

Police say Wesley Wilson worked as a cashier at the Walmart on Central Freeway and that on 4 days in December and one in January he took just over $3,000 from registers.

Police obtained surveillance video  which they say shows Wilson taking the cash out and putting in his clothing. They also report that Wilson gave a statement to Walmart after he was caught in a separate theft.

They say he admitted taking $2,500 but store officials say his cash drawers were short $3,029. Police say Wilson said he took the money so his mother could pay bills.

Police say he was cooperative and agreed to turn himself in, and that he had no prior theft convictions.
