Frequent Visitor to Wichita County Jail Posts Bond Again

He's been in and out of jail numerous times over the last few months, and even with $435,000 total bonds to post after his most recent arrest last week, theft and forgery suspect Jason Menikheim is out of jail again.

Menikheim was arrested last week for allegedly not making payments on a gas range rental. His bond on that charge was only $5,000, but he also had 7 other bonds totaling $430,000 that were set on his previous charges, and he posted those on Friday.

In previous arrest affidavits, police describe Menikheim as a habitual forger whose victims have included his father and his former employer. They say they have more than a hundred worthless checks he passed at various businesses. He was arrested in January just days after he bonded out on more charges. His bond then totaled about $160,000.

Authorities say Menikheim forges checks and sometimes uses a scheme called check kiting in which he opens bank accounts with minimum deposits to get the routing and account numbers, then writes bad checks from these accounts, covering with more bad checks from other accounts.
