The last remaining defendants in a Wichita Falls gang injunction case are finally enjoined after 30th District Judge Bob Brotherton signs off on the order on Thursday afternoon.
The Varrios Carnales, VC, street gang and 28 of its members are included in the injunction.
Wichita County District Attorney's Office Civil Chief Prosecutor Meredith Kennedy says those members are prohibited from engaging in specified gang-related activities like traveling in cars at night or threatening other people.
Kennedy says the gang injunctions are also a way for gang members to change their lives.
"It's important for them to have a way out of the gang which is ultimately we want them to do and with an agreed order, they can say, 'I can't hang out with you. I can't be seen with you. I have this order that if I'm seen with you, I'll be arrested.'"
Kennedy says this is the second civil injunction against VC and the 5th gang injunction in Wichita County since 2007.
