Trial for an uncooperative murder defendant is delayed after prosecutors are granted a continuance in the case today.

Jerry Joe Garza was set to go to trial for capital murder on April 7 in Canyon.

It was moved there because of extensive media coverage here.

According to court documents filed by prosecutors, the technician who processed the crime scene now lives in Utah.

She will not be available for testimony because of a high-risk pregnancy.

Prosecutors say that technician's testimony is key to their case as she gathered more than 170 pieces of evidence at the crime scene, a home in the 1300 block of Britain.

That's where police say they found the body of 32-year-old Monica Partida who was fatally stabbed.

No new trial date has been set.
