Graham Police Say Father Killed His Son Then Himself

The Graham Police Chief released the following press release concerning the deaths of Joseph Parker and his son Kensy Parker:

Press Release

Police release the cause of death for both subjects in Parker Death Investigation.

Graham, Texas, January 31, 2017: Based on the evidence discovered during the investigation of the scene, and the preliminary rulings from the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, the evidence shows that Joseph Parker shot his son Kensy, and then took his own life. The case is being ruled at this point as a murder/suicide.

On Thursday Morning at approximately 10:39 AM, Graham Police officers were called to the 1300 block of Cherry Street after a family friend discovered the bodies of the two individuals in a bedroom within the residence.

Joseph Parker was last seen Tuesday at approximately 4:30 PM when he left work early. The last time he appeared to have contact with anyone outside the home was around 9:00PM that night by text.

Upon entry into the residence, Investigators discovered the bodies of the two men in a bedroom, each having an apparent single gunshot wound. Upon police arrival, the residence was secure, and there was no sign of forced entry or struggle. The residence was neat, and nothing appeared to have been tampered with or missing.

“This has been a difficult investigation for all the departments in our area. “

Joseph Parker was a former Graham Police Officer who had honorably retired after 20 years of service. He had been a Member of the Graham Fire Department where he served as a Firefighter and Arson Investigator, and had been currently employed by the Young County Sheriff Department as a Deputy Sheriff.

There was no note found.

“We will probably never know the reasoning as to why this happened, and while we do not condone his actions, we remember his service to the community and our hearts go out to the family. “

We ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers at this time.

Tony Widner

Chief of Police

Graham Police Department
