In 2012, Graham residents shot down a proposal that would have allowed the sale of liquor, beer and wine at local businesses but folks who are looking at making Graham "wet" again say a small change may help it pass this time.
Graham Wet... It's Time, is a committee made up of Graham residents, who say the new push will not include the sale of liquor.
Organizer Mike Elmore says If it passes, it would only allow the sale of beer and wine in grocery stores and gas stations but residents say they are still split on the idea of going wet.
A.W. Erwin says, "Well anywhere you go outside of town you can run right into it. It's there. If you need it that bad, maybe you just need to move closer to that. I don't know. It's not such a big deal, I guess to me, that you have to be able to swing in and pick it up like a carton of milk."
However, others support it.
Jamie England says, " If it is local, it would actually maybe kind of help our economy in the town a little bit. The stores, the local stores, the grocery stores, convenience stores; it would boost their sales."
Elmore is trying to collect 1,200 signatures to put the issue on the November ballot.
Graham Wet... It's Time will be outside of Walmart and the Conoco on 380 on Wednesday.
