Fire departments from Grandfield and the surrounding area responded around 2 p.m. Sunday, to the corner of 5th and Taylor.
And, officials say it started in the carport of a house on Taylor Street. A man and his son got out that home unharmed.
Then, the fire jumped across fourth street and spread to two nearby vacant houses.
Grandfield Assistant Fire Chief, Corey Howard says fire teams returned to the scene this morning with water tankers to make sure flames did not rekindle and spread.
"Just felt like it was in the best interest of the community to come out here and stir up the hot ashes, get the hot spots out. Winds are suppose to get up around 20 mph this evening, and with winds that fast we're worried about the ashes blowing around and having another scenario like we did yesterday," says Howard.
The investigation continues into the cause of the fires.
