Justin Green is sentenced to thirty years in prison for the murder of his former roommate and fellow Iraq war veteran Jose Ramirez.
He will also have to pay court costs.
The case first went to trial in August.
A mistrial was declared when jurors couldn't make a unanimous decision on the verdict.
Prosecutors say it was being moved to Fort Worth this weeks in hopes of finding a jury that hasn't heard about the case.
Authorities say Green fatally shot Ramirez in a home outside Petrolia in 2007 then buried him in a shallow grave.
Ramirez's body was found on the property five years later after authorities received a tip.
Green originally claimed he shot Ramirez in self defense when Ramirez was reaching for a gun during an argument.
Green's sister, mother and another woman were also arrested in connection with tampering with evidence and assisting in covering up the death.
Authorities say Green drained Ramirez's bank accounts after he killed him.
