Electra Family Grieving After Tragic Accident

An Electra family is mourning the loss of a man who lost his life tragically Wednesday morning when a concrete foundation he was working on collapsed on top of him.

Around 9:30, Clay County deputies were called to a home on Highway 79,  just south of Petrolia.
Employees told them that 36-year-old Louis Michael Bounds was trapped under a concrete porch of the home. According to his supervisor, they were digging under the porch and working to level it when part of the old foundation collapsed trapping bounds.

It was an emotional evening for his family. They are still in shock from hearing the news.

Mandy Bounds, Louis's cousin, said when she got the call from Louis's father, she thought he just needed some help around the house.

That's when he told her that someone she just spoke with less than 24 hours ago. was gone.

"I'm still in shock. i can't believe that it happened," Mandy said.

Mandy Bounds says her cousin 36-year-old Louis Michael Bounds was the type of person who would do anything for anyone.

"He's a great person," Mandy said. "He never judged any one. People may have judged him for his disability but he would be the first person to go and help that person."

Bounds was working for Mendoza House Leveling and Repair of Wichita Falls when tragedy struck . His father says Wednesday was actually his first day back on the job.

"I really couldn't believe it," Joe Allen Bounds said. "Three or four police officers came and knocked on the door and they wanted to come in and talk to me. I knew something was wrong," he said.

He said the last time he saw his son was Monday.

"They asked when the last time I saw Louis and I said two days ago," Joe said. "I left there and told me that he was going to Wichita and that he was going to work the next day. I told him okay. I never expected that to happen," Joe said.

As the family members try to mend their broken hearts.... they are also reminded of the happier times.

"He wasn't afraid to be in the water either," Mandy said. "Fishing was definitely something that he liked to do whether it's with a fishing pool or in the water," she said.

Here is a GoFundMe Page to help the Bounds family pay for funeral arrangement.
