Officials say it happened just after 3 this afternoon, about one-fourth of a mile north of 367.
They say a red four-door Ford driven by 23-year-old Charli Winstel was traveling southbound on FM 369.
DPS troopers say Winstel was attempting to pass a towing trailer.
When she realized there was another car coming at her in the northbound lane, she went to the left, and the other car, driven by 27-year-old Richard Arceo, went to the right.
Troopers say the two vehicles collided head-on off the shoulder.
Both Winstel and Arceo were transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
United Regional officials say Arceo is in stable condition.
Winstel's is not known at this time.
