It took her three months to create "Miss Silver Buckle", a fiberglass horse that normally sits in front of Tangles Salon in Parker Square.
"It's design was in my mind. We give away the buckles, you know, the silver buckles. I always liked the paisley and the design on those," Jones says.
The horse was stolen from the property around 12:30 Wednesday morning.
A surveillance camera caught the act on tape.
Robin Cook, owner of Tangles Salon, says, "We found out that the horse was in someone's apartment."
"Miss Silver Buckle" was recovered in an apartment at Hunter's Crossing on Kemp, about one block from the salon. The owner says police said they received a Crime Stoppers tip leading them to the alleged vandals' apartment.
"They cut the head off, the tail off, and the legs," Cook says.
Cook says it looks like the vandals sawed off the horse's limbs.
Jones say she has had to repair and repaint the horse two separate times because of vandalism, and to hear a third incident is no less devastating.
"Well it's just a part of me, you know?"
As for a motive for the theft and destruction, it's still unclear why the suspects did it.
"We were told that they didn't think it was any big deal," Cook says. "I thought to myself, 'When did theft become "not" a big deal?'"
Police say what can seem like a harmless act or prank to some, is actually criminal activity.
Officer Jeff Hughes with WFPD says, "Whether they think it's funny, or it's a joke, or it's a prank, pranks should actually be taken seriously, and they do have serious consequences."
"It is a sad thing," Cook says. "We're disappointed we didn't find it all in one piece. We are going to see if we can have it repaired."
Cook says they do have insurance on "Miss Silver Buckle".
They hope to have her repaired just as soon as possible.
Several people were detained and questioned this morning as a part of the investigation into the theft of the painted horse.
Arrests are expected to be made as early as next week.
