Wichita Falls, Texas -
Hotter'N Hell Hundred is just days away and with R-V’s showing up around town, volunteers are putting all of the final touches to make sure the event goes off without a hitch.
Bikers from around the nation and the world will soon be rolling down the streets of Wichita Falls and with August heat in full swing, drinking a lot of water is key for riders.
One of the faces behind keeping all of them hydrated is David Potter.
David works tirelessly to get water to all of the rest stops before the race, but couldn’t resist stopping when he saw the KFDX Pay It Forward truck.
"I was takin' trailers over this morning over to deliver them to put water on and as we was goin by we saw the truck was sittin there,” said David Potter, a volunteer with Hotter'N Hell Hundred.
Because of all the help the organization provides during Hotter'N Hell each year, David knew that the Wichita Falls Streams and Valley would put the money to good use.
“It's very important around in this community and it's a vital part of who we are and what we do,” said David.
When Sandy Monson received word they would be receiving the $300 she said it couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.
"Pat just called and said I need to go buy fence post so I was thinking I need to balance the streams and valley's check book,” said Sandy Monson, Executive Director for Wichita Falls Streams and Valleys.
Pat is a coworker of Sandy and said that she can just pass along the money to go buy the lumber for permanent signs that will go along the Wee-Chi-Tah trail.
A trail that Sandy and her crews work to maintain and improve year round.
Sandy said that with Hotter'N Hell coming this weekend the trail will host more than 500 bikers and more than 600 runners.
Each of which will run or ride by the signs that, thanks to David, will have a permanent home in Wichita Falls.
