The Humane Society of Wichita County is barking about a big achievement recently set at the shelter.
Shelter officials say 204 animals were adopted last month, which is a record number.
According to managers, the number of monthly adoptions typically averages between 100 and 150 each month.
And shelter officials say most of the adopted out animals weren't puppies or kittens, but rather, adult dogs and cats.
"We're just very, very happy that we've had that many people and that many good adopters to come out. We're hoping to keep up with that so we've set the bar pretty high so we're gonna be trying to do it the other months to come," says Patti Hillard, executive director of the Humane Society of Wichita County.
Shelter officials credit their milestone to adopting out animals at numerous weekend events, discounting the adoption price for pets and using Facebook to help find forever homes.
