Idea Wichita Falls announces business winners of 2017 competition

WICHITA FALLS - Some local entrepreneurs are getting the chance to make their mark in Wichita Falls, thanks to the Idea Wichita Falls small business program.

It was a packed house filled with entrepreneurs at the Idea Wichita Falls luncheon Wednesday afternoon. Each person there to celebrate the ideas of five lucky finalists looking to make their business a reality.

"Idea WF is about growing the local economy, it's about adding jobs to the economy," direct Scott Manley said.

Manley said breaking the finalists down to just three winners was tough.

"We had some outstanding presentations," Manley said. "They were just absolutely amazing, all of our finalists were outstanding."

Thousands of dollars and professional services were awarded to each winner ready to take their idea to the next level for their communities.

"We want to give this town something that has their name branded on it and that they can be proud of and call it their own," Wichita Falls Brewing Co. Owner Russ Reynolds said.

The "start up go" award went out to Wichita Falls Brewing Co., which is already brewing its location on 7th and Indiana St.

"We had a lot on our plates going into this," Wichita Falls Brewing Co. Owner Matt Bitsche said. "As we got closer to the date, we knew that it became more and more important to us."

The "expansion grow" win went out to Aunt Pam's Closet" in Henrietta, a quilting business that started out as a mom and pop shop just nine years ago. Owner Pam Schenk says they're opening a bigger facility very soon.

"Just having their input with all of the different things that you need to know about a business plan was incredible," Schenk said.

Take A Shot got the hole-in-one earning the judge's choice. Owners Nathan Moore and Scott Matheson a planning out a sports bar and golf facility making its way to Southwest Parkway.

"It's happening," Moore said. "It's so inspirational just getting this little bit of extra help."

"Our feeling is that there's not a lot of entertainment in Wichita Falls and we're looking to kind of fill that," Matheson said.

Manley says he's looking forward to see how each group will enhance the business community and provide for their neighborhoods.

"We want the market larger to make the sales larger, so that everybody does benefit."
