A former Henrietta High School coach accused of having an improper relationship with one of his students pleads to a lesser charge.

Last June, Matthew Franklin turned himself in for having a sexual relationship with one of his students.

He was originally charged with improper relationship between educator and student, but he accepted a pre-trial diversion contract for injury to a child, a lesser included offense.

As long as Franklin follows all the conditions in the agreement, the charge against him will be dropped in one year.

Franklin is a former head softball coach and history teacher at Henrietta High School.

Authorities say both the alleged victim and Franklin said nothing happened between them until after she graduated, but after further prompting, say Franklin admitted to engaging in a sexual relationship with the girl starting about six months before she graduated.
