Tom Wilson, a producer at Boley-Featherston, says, "It's for those that got on Healthcare.gov or got on the insurance company website, tried to crossover to Healthcare.gov, and had difficulties enrolling."
Wilson says the federal government extended the March 31 hard deadline for insurance, citing the need to accommodate those who experienced difficulties with Healthcare.gov.
The government will rely on the honor system
"They don't have to prove it," Wilson says. "They go back to enrollment or the application system on Healthcare.gov and there's a blue box they check that indicates, 'I tried to enroll and was not successful due to technical difficulties.'"
He says he anticipates more customers will be coming through his door.
"It will definitely create a new rush of people trying to get qualified for a subsidy and a policy," Wilson says.
Though the government hasn't set a new deadline for enrollment, Wilson says it's important for people to now be proactive in the process and start an application now.
He says the projected deadline for enrollment is now mid-April, but that, of course, could change.
If you do get insurance through Healthcare.gov before the next deadline, Wilson says your policy will take effect May 1.
