There's a Texas Ranger investigation into a 35- year veteran of the Henrietta Volunteer Fire Department.
The Clay County Pioneer Sentinel reports it's for theft of the organization's funds. Larry Heaton served as the department's treasurer and was placed on inactive duty during a fire department meeting, pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Sentinel also reports following a closed session Monday night, the city council decided to place Heaton on administrative leave from his position as Henrietta's Fire Marshall. It's believed the theft of funds happened over several years.
