Iowa Park Man Charged with Breaking into House of a Dead Woman

A 39-year-old Iowa Park man is jailed for burglary after he is charged with breaking into the house of a woman who had died two days earlier.

James Sims is jailed on $80,000 bond.

The woman's son said after he noticed items missing he installed surveillance cameras at the home on Convington, off Old Iowa Park Road.

Then, after finding more items missing, he and an officer viewed the video and it showed a man removing a window air conditioner and climbing in.

According to the affidavit, Sims spent about 2 hours sorting the items he wanted to take, including two flat scree TVs.

The victim posted the video on Facebook and tips then led police to Sims. Officers say he was pulled over in a traffic stop, and some of the stolen items were found in the trunk.

They also said they went to his parents' house in Iowa Park where Sims lives and they told them their son had admitted it was him in the video several days earlier and they had tried to persuade him to turn himself in and get help for a drug problem.
