Jacksboro Deals with Second Day without Natural Gas Service

- A second day without natural gas service in Jacksboro brought a second day of Jacksboro city officials informing residents how they could stay warm.
Although some places in town were able to stay warm, Mechell Dixon found out the natural gas disruption is causing a new worry.

As Texas Gas Service crews continues shutting off service at homes in Jacksboro volunteers went door to door to inform residents about the continued gas outage and tell them where they could go to stay warm.
Gas service was shut off morning Thursday morning because of liquid entering the system, which had officials at Faith Community Hospital immediately taking action.

"We started trying to find heaters in town.... It was just getting cold," says James Bartlett, chief financial officer at Faith Community Hospital.

Now, heat has been restored at the hospital and at other government and commercial buildings, thanks to compressed natural gas tanks provided by Texas Gas Service, but residents are still without heat and many have a new worries.
"Now, we're concerned about the water pipes busting because the heat is not there to keep the house warm," says Faye Lewis,  who lives in Jacksboro.

Jacksboro city crews did work on a water main break today but officials say it was not related to the gas outage.
And residents tell us people from neighboring town went above and beyond bringing space heaters and electric blankets to gas customers so they could stay warm in their homes.
