"We did a strategic plan with Texas A&M and that was the number one thing that Jacksboro came up showing, that we needed a new city pool. That was enough for us to say ok, we're on go!" Said Jacksboro Economic Development President Phylis Elenburg.
After the Old Jacksboro Pool closing seven years ago, the city's leading economic planners realized that over the summer months, residents and their hard earned dollars we're skipping town in search of water parks and pools.
"Everybody was driving somewhere and that takes money out of our community because if you go somewhere to swim, you're going to do other things, you're going to spend your money someplace else and that was a big thing that we wanted to do was keep people in our community." Said Lynda Pack of Jacksboro Economic Development.
Two years ago they began raising the $600,000 needed to make the new pool a reality and organizers say the generous donations and fundraising efforts they received from the community were overwhelming.
"Their was great support from Jacksboro, everybody pulled together and I couldn't of asked for any better thing than that." Said Elenburg.
"Everybody from huge donations to dollars and it took it all to do what we wanted to do." Said Pack.
Now Jacksboro has a pool that will be making waves and money for years to come.
