Back in 2013 Jeremy Johnson was diagnosed with testicular cancer.
His wife was pregnant with twins at the time and was overjoyed when they found out his treatment worked and the cancer was gone.
Just three months later Jeremy got the official word the cancer was back with a vengeance, but neither that tough news nor the battle he is now fighting ever caused Jeremy to lose his Spirit of Texoma and in fact it inspired many to truly share theirs as well.
Jeremy Johnson says, "I am not going to quit. I have three kids, a beautiful wife. I mean I have got too much to do, way too much to do."
Jeremy lives each day with that "I Don't Quit" determination and has an entire community behind him.
Johnson: "I've got an army of warriors. I just feel blessed to have all of them behind me 100% to just keep on going. It is pretty amazing to me."
His Army rallied around him in round one and Team Jeremy continues to grow.
When he recently started chemo for the second time they were there, just outside his hospital room bowing their heads in prayer.
Johnson: "It just keeps you want to keep fighting. It is pretty amazing. It has touched a lot of people everywhere."
Jeremy says folks from across the World have sent their support his way.
Johnson: "It always starts out you don't know me, but I have been praying for you. That will make you cry. I don't know. I am just blessed."
Team Jeremy consists of some key players. There's the Wildcats Craze Cat, local baseball standout turned pro Ryan Braiser along with his Angels teammates, several NBA stars are on board, as well as Texas Rangers pitcher Derek Holland.
Johnson: "You just keep seeing more and more people giving and you know it is pretty amazing!"
His teammates close to home certainly continue doing their part pitching in to buy t-shirts and hundreds recently showed up for Junefest for the Johnsons to bid on aucton items to help the family of five deal with mounting medical bills.
Johnson: "God has blessed me beyond my belief, just by the friends and family. It is just amazing."
Jeremy says his family and friends help him remain upbeat.
He says laughter is one of the best weapons against cancer and finds ways to even poke fun at the big "C"...like hair today, gone tomorrow and then back again?
Johnson: "Be positive, just laugh alot and take what it gives you. My hair will grow back but you really don't need it. It is quick to shower I am in and out and done."
Jeremy recently got some positive news about his cancer.
Johnson: "It is shrinking, so that is the best result. Let's just keep doing it and if we need to do it again, let's do it. Let's just get it gone! "
It is that spirit of survival this Spirit of Texoma Award winner's team continues to live by.
Johnson: "Everybody just makes me want to keep fighting, fighting, fighting. I won't give up I have got too much to do and too many people supporting me."
Jeremy and his wife Crystal celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary just this week. The twins Crystal was carrying during Jeremy's first fight with cancer and now seven months old and their little one Savannah just recently graduated pre-k.
Jeremy has many reasons to never give up the fight.
