Jury Seated in Trial for One of Two Men Charged in Gun Shop Robbery

A jury has been seated in the trial for one of two suspects charged in a shooting and robbery at a Wichita Falls gun shop.

Charles Johnson is charged with aggravated robbery and has been in jail since December of 2015, after he was released from the hospital.

In November of 2015, Texoma Armory owner Gary Barlow suffered multiple gunshot wounds when police say two men, Charles Johnson and Rodney Robinson, attempted to rob the store.

Robinson turned himself in a few days later and police say he gave a statement admitting he fired the shots that wounded Barlow. He said he began firing a handgun when Johnson was shot by Barlow.
Johnson was shot during the exchange of gunfire.

In July, Johnson's trial was moved up from August 21 to August 7 at the request of prosecutors. Johnson has elected to have jurors set punishment if he is convicted. He has also filed to have a new attorney appointed, complaining his previous attorneys were not working hard enough on a plea deal for him.
