K9 Leads Authorities to Hundreds of Grams of Cocaine

- Wichita County deputies say a K9 officer leads them to more than 430 grams of cocaine during a traffic stop.

An arrest affidavit states a deputy pulled over a 2014 Nissan yesterday for speeding.

It states 21-year-old Anthony Johnson Jr. of Denton was the driver and 21-year-old Korey Harper, also of Denton, was the passenger.

The two told authorities they were returning home from Amarillo.

A deputy says he smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, so he asked Johnson for consent to search the vehicle, but Johnson denied.

A K9 officer was called to the scene and authorities say he alerted to the presence of drugs.

They found several bags of drugs floating in drink containers, including 436 grams of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana.

Harper and Johnson are jailed on more than $30,000 in bonds each.
